When it comes to answering the Pitzer supplemental essays 2022, there are some things to keep in mind. First, these essays are in addition to the personal statement found in the common app. Second, the first two essays (choose one) are based on Pitzer’s core values. Before even considering how you will write this essay, familiarize yourself with the core values
The Pitzer core values are based on social responsibility, intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary learning, student engagement, and environmental sustainability. Pitzer’s website goes into more detail about these values and how students are expected to live up to them. Now, let’s take a look at the Pitzer supplemental essays 2022-2023 and discuss them in detail.
Describe what you are looking for from your college experience and why Pitzer would be a good fit for you.
Reflecting on your involvement throughout high school or within the community, how have you engaged with one of Pitzer’s core values?
There is also a shorter essay with a word limit of 100 words.

As you can see, the first two essay prompts are fairly standard, but you will need to reflect on Pitzer’s core values as you write this essay.
How to write Pitzer supplemental essays?
Many applicants wonder how to write Pitzer supplemental essays because the topics are so broad. As a result, it can be difficult to choose a topic. Let’s look at each prompt individually and come up with a strategy.
Describe what you are looking for from your college experience and why Pitzer would be a good fit for you.
While this essay prompt may sound quite familiar, it’s actually a two-part prompt. The first part asks you to reflect on what you want out of college. This can vary dramatically from student to student. Some students may be looking for a well-rounded education, while others may have a clear career goal in mind and a plan to get there. So, before you start writing, think about why you are pursuing college.
Once you’ve done this, it’s time to do your research. Make sure you know exactly what Pitzer offers, and how these offerings will help you achieve your goals. This means getting specific. Go through the course offerings and convey how excited you are to take part in these unique opportunities. The goal is to explain in very specific terms, why Pitzer is the right choice for you.
Reflecting on your involvement throughout high school or within the community, how have you engaged with one of Pitzer’s core values?
This prompt is more directly related to Pitzer’s core values, and it requires you to consider the part you played in your high school community. What was your role? What actions did you take to be part of your community? You can think of “community” in a variety of ways. It could be your school community as a whole. Or it could be a team, a club, or a theater or music group. You can define community in whatever way you want, but make sure that you highlight why being part of this community was so significant to you.
You will also need to consider how this involvement relates to Pitzer’s core values. Did you take part in projects that were intended to benefit the local or global environment? Were you part of a group that did community outreach with less-fortunate communities? Perhaps you were active in student government and responsible for making structural changes within your school. All of these can relate to the core values.
Two of our favorite murals on campus have quotes that read, “Be your own weird” and “You are of this place – it is changing you”. If you could add an inspirational quote or art piece to our campus, what would it be and why (100 word limit)?
This essay allows you to do pretty much anything you want, which means that the goal here is to be as creative as possible. What inspires you? What do you think would inspire others? But if you’re wondering how to get started with this prompt, think about what you are passionate about and why? What is it about this subject that makes you excited and inspired to pursue it?
The prompt also gives you amazing freedom when it comes to which quote or piece of art you would add to the community. Obviously, this is completely hypothetical, so go wild. Is there a quote from something that always sticks with you? It could be from anything. A book, a movie, scripture, a song. It really doesn’t matter what the source is as long as you can explain why it is significant to you, and why you think it would be significant to others.
You could also choose to hypothetically add a piece of art to the community. This could be a piece of your art that you think others would find inspiring, or it could be a piece you’ve seen in a museum. As long as you can explain why it is so inspiring, it’s a good subject to write about. The only challenge is describing your quote or piece of music in 100 words. It’s not a lot of space, so being concise is very important. Make sure to think about the main points you want to address and stick to that.
