Science Research Program

In our 8-week program, we will guide you through an independent research project. You will work 1-on-1 with an AdmissionSight Research Scientist to craft together an independent research project and compete in highly prestigious science research competitions such as the Intel Science and Engineering Fair and Regeneron Science Talent Search. During the 8 weeks, you will receive guidance on how to execute on the technical details of the project which you can use to submit to the state science fair and potentially qualify for different science competitions such as ISEF. A background in computer science is helpful, but not necessarily required as long as there is a willingness to learn.

Many of our students have competed in the Regeneron Science Talent Search and Intel Science and Engineering Fair and won national recognition for their efforts, including a $25,000 scholarship. In past years, our students placed semifinalist and regional finalist in the Siemens Westinghouse Competition, which has since been discontinued. Please consult with us further about this highly specialized science research program.

Our Science Research Scientists

David, Research Scientist

PhD in Physics, UC Davis

David is a Research Scientist at AdmissionSight and has a PhD in Physics from the University of California – Davis, where his research focused on utilizing a tsunami wave simulator and machine learning techniques to develop novel early warning systems. David was heavily involved in a particle physics research group at Fermilab, America’s national accelerator laboratory. He was funded to work there through a scholarship recognizing his self-driven high school science projects, including a fusion-based project presented at the Regional Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS). David has deep experience in physics, machine learning, mathematics, and statistics.

Derek, Head Research Scientist


Derek is the Head Research Scientist at AdmissionSight graduated with a BS and PE in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In school, he was a National AP Scholar, National Merit Scholar, Lockheed Engineering Scholar, and UCLA Alumni Association Scholar. Today, Derek focuses on helping students conduct independent research projects and many have placed in the Intel Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS). Derek‘s students have been published in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM),  the Columbia Junior Science Journal. Derek‘s students have also been  accepted into Sigma Xi, The Junior Academy of Sciences, and the MIT Research Science Institute (RSI). 

Amber, Senior Consultant & Research Scientist

BS, Stanford University

Amber is a Senior Consultant and Research Scientist at AdmissionSight and graduated with a BS in Computer Science and Physics from Stanford University. She won the $50,000 Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award, the second-highest award at the 2017 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her work on an artificial intelligence-based computer system capable of tracking and predicting the orbits of space debris. In addition, Amber was named as a finalist for the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the oldest and most prestigious high school science competition.
