Duke’s application deadline for Early Decision (ED) is November 2, and January 4 for Regular Decision (RD). Transfer and financial aid deadlines fall on different dates. If you don’t hit the deadlines, you might miss your chance to be part of Duke’s community.

Because of that, a big part of applying to Duke is being aware of when the application deadlines are. So, in this blog, we’ll break down the deadlines for prospective first-years, transfers, and financial aid for Duke’s 2026-2027 admissions cycle.

When Is the Duke Application Deadline?

Duke has two application routes first-year applicants, each with its own deadline:

Early Decision November 2, 2026
Regular Decision January 4, 2027

These dates apply only to first-years. Transfer and financial aid deadlines are different and will be covered later in the blog.

Duke Early Decision deadline

Duke’s ED deadline is November 2, and applications open in early August. Students attending high school in the US also have the option to record and submit a Glimpse video, which must be sent by November 9. Notifications are released in mid-December.

If you’re admitted through ED, you’ll have to withdraw your applications at other schools and accept Duke’s offer of admission since it’s binding.

If you’re deferred, your application will get a second review in the RD pool. If accepted, you’ll have until May 1 to respond.

Duke Regular Decision deadline

Duke’s RD deadline is January 4. Similar to ED, applications open in early August. If you want to make a Glimpse video, you have until January 11 to submit it. Decisions are released in late March or early April. If admitted, you have until May 1 to reply.

Since RD is non-restrictive, you can apply to as many other colleges as you want. RD is the ideal option if you want more time to work on your application. On top of that, it keeps your college options open so you can still compare offers in the spring.

Duke Transfer Application Deadline

Duke’s transfer application deadline is March 15, 2027, and students who wish to submit an optional arts supplement can send the portfolio by March 20. Applications open in early August.

Transfer decisions are released in mid-May, and accepted students must submit their final college transcript around May to June, upon completion of their final college term.

Duke Financial Aid Application Deadline

Duke’s financial aid deadline depends on the application round you are in:

Early Decision November 3, 2026
Regular Decision February 1, 2027
Transfer March 15, 2027

The dates above are priority deadlines, meaning you can still submit your financial aid application even after they’ve passed. However, hitting these dates ensures that you’ll receive your aid offer at the same time as your offer of admission.
