Vanderbilt’s application deadlines are November 1 for Early Decision I (ED I) and January 1 for both Early Decision II (ED II) and Regular Decision (RD). If you are applying to Vanderbilt this 2026-2027 cycle, we’ll break down the important dates you need to keep in mind.

When Is the Vanderbilt Application Deadline?

Vanderbilt offers three routes for first-year applicants, each with its own deadline:

We’ll cover deadlines for transfer and financial aid later in this article.

Vanderbilt Early Decision deadline

Vanderbilt ED I deadline is November 1. Vanderbilt is test-optional, but if you want to submit scores, the preferred last day to take the SAT Reasoning Test is October 3, while the preferred last day to take the ACT is October 17. Decisions are released in mid-December, and the deadline for the deposit for admitted students is December 31. If you’re deferred, your application gets another review in the RD round.

Meanwhile, Vanderbilt’s ED II deadline is January 1. You must have taken the SAT Reasoning Test by December 5, or the ACT by December 12. However, if you’re applying to the Blair School of Music through ED II, your priority deadline will be December 1. Decisions are released in mid-February, and admitted students must submit their deposit by March 1.

Both ED I and ED II are binding, meaning if you’re accepted, you’ll have to withdraw your applications to other schools and commit to enrolling at Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt Regular Decision deadline

Vanderbilt’s RD deadline is January 1. You should ideally have taken the SAT Reasoning Test by December 5, and the ACT by December 13, although Vanderbilt is test-optional. Blair School of Music applicants have a priority deadline of December 1. You’ll receive your admission decision by mid-February, and you’ll have until May 1, 2027 to accept or decline.

RD is non-binding, so you can apply to as many other schools as you want, and you have the freedom to compare offers in the spring before deciding.

Vanderbilt Transfer Application Deadline

Vanderbilt’s priority transfer application deadline is February 15, 2027. The school will continue to accept applications over the late spring or early summer months, but they’ll typically stop accepting new applications by May 1. Decisions are released on a rolling basis starting late April.

Vanderbilt accepts transfer students only for Fall entry.

Vanderbilt Financial Aid Application Deadline

Vanderbilt has several financial aid deadlines depending on your application route and whether you’re applying for need-based or merit scholarship:

Application Round Priority filing deadline for CSS Profile and FAFSA Deadline for completed merit scholarship applications
Early Decision I November 1, 2026 December 1, 2026
Early Decision II January 1, 2027 December 1, 2026
Regular Decision February 1, 2027 December 1, 2026
Transfer February 1, 2027 N/A

Merit scholarships aren’t available for transfer students, and international transfer students aren’t eligible for need-based aid either. ED I and ED II admits will receive notifications for aid offers twice: the first being preliminary offers, and the second as updated offers.
