Georgia Tech releases results in early December for Early Action 1 (EA 1) applicants, late January for Early Action 2 (EA 2), and mid-March for Regular Decision (RD) applicants. Waitlist decisions are released on a rolling basis after May 1, and transfer applicants hear back depending on their starting semester and their program.

Knowing when Georgia Tech decisions come out makes it easier to plan your next steps. Below, we’ll talk about Georgia Tech’s Class of 2031 decision dates, the outcomes you can get, and steps to take whichever you receive.

When Does Georgia Tech Release Decisions?

Georgia Tech offers three application routes for first-year students, each with its own notification date:

Application Route Decision Release Decision Types
Early Action 1 Early December 2026 Admit, Defer, Deny
Early Action 2 Late January 2027 Admit, Defer, Deny
Regular Decision Mid-March 2027 Admit, Waitlist, Deny

For the Class of 2030, Georgia Tech released EA 1 decisions last December 5, 2025, EA 2 last January 30, 2026, and RD last March 6, 2026.

Georgia Tech notifies applicants through email, prompting them to check their decision letters in the Georgia Tech Undergraduate Admission Portal.

When do Georgia Tech Early Action results come out?

Georgia Tech EA 1 results come out in early December, while EA 2 decisions are released in late January.

You’ll see one of three outcomes:

  • An admit means Georgia Tech wants you in its incoming class, but you’ll still have until May 1 to make a decision. You may be placed in fall, summer (for Ignite), or First-Year Semester Abroad (FYSA).
  • A defer means your application rolls into the RD pool, with a final decision released in mid-March.
  • A deny means your application is closed for this cycle.

When do Georgia Tech Regular Decision results come out?

Georgia Tech RD results come out in mid-March.

RD applicants will get one of three outcomes:

  • An admit means you’re officially accepted. Like EA admits, you’ll have until May 1 to make your choice and may be placed in fall, summer, or First-Year Semester Abroad.
  • A waitlist means you may be admitted if space opens after the May 1 deposit deadline.
  • A deny means your application is closed for the cycle.

You’ll have to complete your application and submit it first before you have to worry about when decisions go out. Check out our Georgia Tech’s application deadlines blog to take a look at the dates you have to meet.

When Do Georgia Tech Waitlist Decisions Come Out?

Georgia Tech waitlist decisions are typically released after the May 1 deposit deadline, with updates continuing through late May and sometimes into the summer. Students on the waitlist may be admitted to either the Summer or Fall terms, or in some cases to special programs like the First-Year Semester Abroad (FYSA) program.

To be considered for admission, you must submit the Waitlist Offer Reply Form by early April.

When Do Georgia Tech Transfer Decisions Come Out?

Georgia Tech transfer decisions come out on different dates, depending on your program and what semester you’re applying for:

Application Term Decision Release
Fall Entry (Dual Degree) April 16, 2027
Fall Entry (Regular Transfer, REPP, and Veterans Pathways) May 14, 2027
Fall Entry (APS, Arts & Sciences, Conditional, and Talent Initiative Pathways) June 11, 2027
Spring Entry October 30, 2026
Summer Semester Entry February 27, 2027

Unlike most peer institutions, Georgia Tech also waitlists transfer applicants. Similar to first-year applicants, you’ll need to accept or decline your spot on the waitlist.

What to Do After Receiving Your Georgia Tech Decision

Your next steps depend on the decision you receive from Georgia Tech:

What to Do Next

Accepted Regardless of which application route you were accepted through, you have until May 1 to compare offers before deciding.
Deferred If deferred, submit the Deferred Supplemental Form in your admission portal and mid-year transcript by January 14 (for EA 1) or February 16 (for EA 2). You can also submit new or update your test scores by February 2 at the latest. Georgia Tech doesn’t accept letters of continued interest or new recommendation letters.
Waitlisted Submit the Waitlist Offer Reply Form, which also gives you the space to share all additional information you want the admissions committee to know. Similar to deferrals, Georgia Tech doesn’t accept letters of continued interest.
Denied Focus on the schools where you were accepted. Compare the offers and financial aid packages and reply to one of them by May 1.

You can accept Georgia Tech’s offer of admission after being waitlisted. That means you’ll need to forfeit your non-refundable deposit to another school, but committing to a backup school is still a safe move, given how unpredictable Georgia Tech’s waitlist is.

If you’re denied, you can still reapply in the next admissions cycle as a transfer student.
