UPenn’s application deadline is November 1 for Early Decision (ED) and January 5 for Regular Decision (RD). Transfer and financial aid, on the other hand, have different deadlines. Missing any of the deadlines can cost you the chance to be part of UPenn’s community.
So, if you’re applying to UPenn, it’s important to know when application deadlines are. In this blog, we’ll give you the deadlines for freshmen, transfers, and financial aid for the 2026-2027 admissions cycle.

When Is the UPenn Application Deadline?
UPenn has two deadlines for first-year applicants, depending on the application route:
| Application Route | Deadline |
| Early Decision | November 1, 2026 |
| Regular Decision | January 5, 2027 |

The dates above apply only to first-year applicants. Transfer and financial aid deadlines will be covered later in the blog.
UPenn Early Decision deadline
UPenn’s ED deadline is November 1. You can apply through the Common App or Coalition Application. Applicants will be notified of a decision in December. Since ED is binding, admitted students must withdraw their applications at other schools and accept UPenn’s offer of admission.
Deferred applications are released from binding ED and will get a second review in the RD pool. If you’re admitted, you’ll also have until May 1 to reply.
UPenn Regular Decision deadline
UPenn’s RD deadline is January 5, and results are released in April. If you’re accepted, you’ll have until May 1 to respond.
RD is non-restrictive, giving you the freedom to apply to other colleges. This route would be the best option if you want more time to work on your application. It also keeps your college options open so you can compare multiple admission offers in the spring.

UPenn Transfer Application Deadline
UPenn’s transfer application deadline is March 15, 2027. Applications open on January 5, 2027.
Each school has its own specific requirements, so make sure to check them before starting your application. UPenn accepts transfer students only for fall entry.
UPenn Financial Aid Application Deadline
UPenn’s financial aid deadlines differ from the application deadlines and also depends on whether first-year applicants applied through QuestBridge or not:
| Application | Deadline to Receive Award Letter at Admission | Deadline to Receive Award Letter Before Fall ’26 Billing in July |
| QuestBridge | October 31, 2026 | October 31, 2026 |
| Early Decision | November 10, 2026 | January 15, 2027 |
| Regular Decision | February 5, 2027 | May 1, 2027 |
| Transfer | April 11, 2027 | April 11, 2027 |

While missing a financial aid deadline doesn’t impact your chances of admission, it can delay or reduce the amount of aid you receive.
