For the Class of 2030, the Williams ED decision release date was December 12, 2025. Meanwhile, RD was released on March 20, 2026.
Williams sends applicants an email telling them to check their online application portal to view their decision.
When do Williams Early Decision decisions come out?
Williams ED decisions come out by December 14, 2026. Applicants can expect one of three possible outcomes:
- An admit means you must enroll at Williams and withdraw applications from every other school since ED is binding.
- A defer means your application is moved to the RD round for a second review.
- A deny means your application is not accepted, and you cannot reapply until the following year.
When do Williams Regular Decision results come out?
Williams’s RD decisions come out by April 1, 2027. You can get one of three outcomes:
- An admit means you’re offered a spot in Williams’s incoming class but still have until May 1 to reply.
- A waitlist means you may be offered a spot later if space opens.
- A deny means your application is not accepted, and you will need to pursue other options.

You’ll have to turn an application in before waiting for notification dates to roll around. Check our blog on Williams’s application deadlines to take a look at the dates you have to hit first.
When Do Williams Waitlist Decisions Come Out?
Williams’s waitlist decisions come out on a rolling basis from May through July. The primary factor influencing waitlist admissions is the college’s yield rate. So, when fewer admitted students enroll than expected, Williams admits additional candidates from the waitlist.
When Do Williams Transfer Decisions Come Out?
Williams transfer decisions come out by April 13, 2027. Admitted students have until June 1 to reply.
Williams only accepts transfer applications for fall enrollment.
What to Do After Receiving Your Williams Decision
When Williams decisions come out, your next steps depend on the result you receive:
|
Williams Decision |
What to Do Next |
| Accepted | If accepted through ED, submit your enrollment deposit by January 4 and withdraw your applications to other schools. If accepted through RD, take the spring to compare offers from Williams and the schools you were accepted to before making a decision by May 1. |
| Deferred | Write a letter of continued interest expressing why Williams remains your top choice and updating the admissions officers of new awards, improved grades, or significant achievements since your original submission. Keep applying to other schools. |
| Waitlisted | Promptly accept your spot on the waitlist through the applicant portal and also submit a letter of continued interest. Make concrete plans for other college options and submit a deposit elsewhere by May 1. |
| Denied | Focus your energy on other schools where you’ve been admitted. Compare offers and choose one of them by May 1. Plan to reapply as a transfer student in the future if Williams remains a dream school. |
If Williams admits you through the waitlist, you can accept it. But by doing so, you’ll be forfeiting your deposit to another school. However, waitlist movement is unpredictable, so it’s still much safer to fully commit to a backup school if Williams waitlists you.
