The faculty admissions committee for each department and program begins assessing applications not long after the application deadline for that department or program has passed. The committee will make recommendations for students to be admitted to Yale Graduate School. These recommendations will be led by either the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) or the Director of Graduate Admissions (DGA). The admissions office will communicate final decisions to applicants as soon as those decisions have been validated by the deans of the Graduate School.

The admissions office and personnel of the Yale Graduate School maintain the application, the application process, and other administrative activities; however, the admissions staff does not examine applications or make admissions decisions.
