Introduction to UNCG

An Introduction to UNCG will help us understand its history. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a state-funded educational establishment established in 1891. It is located in an urban environment, has a total undergraduate enrollment of 15,178 students (for the fall of 2021), and its campus spans 266 acres. It follows an academic calendar that is divided into semesters.

In the Best Colleges edition covering the academic year 2022-2023, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is ranked #219 among National Universities. The tuition and fees for state residents are $7,468, while those from outside the state are $22,628.

Undergraduate admission

Application Materials

  • Application was finished in its entirety. (via the Student Application Portal, the Common App, or the CFNC)
  • A non-refundable cost of $65 or a waiver of the fee. (Note: UNCG accepts fee waivers for first-time applicants who have received a fee waiver from the College Board, ACT, or NACAC. The CFNC Free Application Week is something that they do not take part in.
  • Community standards questionnaire. The UNC system expects all prospective students to fill out this application.
  • An official copy of the student’s high school transcript.
  • An official transcript from every postsecondary institution you attended, including those that granted credit for summer school, extension courses, developmental coursework, and technical programs. Suppose you took any college classes while still a high school student. In that case, you must request that the college’s registrar provide an official transcript directly to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Optional Materials

  • Valid and official test results from either the SAT or the ACT (Optional through 2024). Contacting the College Board and requesting UNCG to acquire your SAT scores will accomplish this (UNCG school code 5913). Contact the American College Assessment Program for your ACT score (UNCG school code 3166).
  • Essay. While submitting an essay with your application by the Early Action deadline is not mandatory, we strongly encourage you to do so.
  • Credits for both the AP and the IB programs. If you want to transfer the credit you earned from your AP or IB exam, you must request that the College Board provide your official score report to us directly.

Transfer student admission

  • Original College Transcripts (including summer session or extended work) mailed directly from the registrar of each institution you have attended to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Office of Undergraduate Admissions by you. (Students with credentials from another country should review the course-by-course evaluation that NACES has recognized.)

International student admission

Those who qualify as international applicants are individuals who either already have or are in the process of applying for an F1 visa or another category of non-immigrant visa that allows them to participate in academic studies either full-time or part-time.

As part of the requirements for admission to UNCG, Applicants with U.S. citizenship, U.S. dual citizenship, lawful permanent residency, pending lawful permanent residency (with approval notice), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), political asylum, refugee status, or individuals without documentation should submit a domestic application.

Application Requirements

To be considered for admission to either the undergraduate or graduate programs at UNC Greensboro, international applicants must submit the appropriate online application for their student type and fulfill any extra requirements indicated below. In addition, prospective students are required to send the following materials to UNC Greensboro:

  • Pay the application fee of $65.
  • An official report on the speaker’s level of English ability.
  • A photocopy of the photo page and signature page of a current and valid passport.
  • Copies of official transcripts from any colleges and universities that were attended.
